Investors and traders are eager to know whether India’s primary stock exchanges—the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)—will remain operational on January 1, 2025, which falls on a Wednesday.

Stock Market Status on New Year’s Day 2025

For 2025, both NSE and BSE will observe a total of 14 trading holidays. However, New Year’s Day—January 1, 2025—is not included in the list of holidays. Trading will proceed as usual across the equity, equity derivatives, and Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) segments. Markets will open at 9:15 AM and close at 3:30 PM, following the standard schedule.
